Since 2012, Sun Ballast racking systems for photovoltaic panels have provided a simple solution for installing PV systems on flat roofs, and they’re now used by thousands of professionals across the industry. The PV ballasts—certified ETN, ISO, and UL 2703—require no fastening to the building roof and give the panels a very high level of wind resistance.

The 63 kW PV system shown in the photos was installed in France on a gravel roof using the Connect 15° System. Its grid structure links each row to the one before and after it, creating a continuous network of concrete ballasts across the array.

This configuration distributes loads across the entire ballast network, helping avoid excessive roof loading. At the same time, the interconnected structure gives the modules maximum resistance to atmospheric stresses, increasing the overall solidity of the system.

The racking structures that make up the Connect System are available across a wide range of tilt angles, from 5° to 30°, and install on any type of flat surface. Each ballast also includes integrated M8 threaded inserts for securing the clamps, keeping the module fastening system built directly into the structure.

Connect System

Lightweight, ultra-reliable, and built to withstand extreme weather—the Connect System revolutionizes ballasted racking by integrating all supports into a reinforced, wind-resistant network. This interconnected design minimizes roof load while maximizing stability and durability.
